Industrial ecology service company Ecomaster Servicii Ecologice, which is part of the Rompetrol group, plans to achieve $10.5 million (8.5 million euros) turnover this year, 15% higher than in 2005 and an EBITDA (earnings before interests, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) worth 630,000 euros.
"The growth will rely on the development of a line of business launched in the second and the fourth quarter of 2005, that is the analysis lab and the network to collect used oils," says Radu Merza, the general manager of Ecomaster. The company posted total revenues to the tune of 9.2 million dollars (7.2 million euros) last year, 60% higher than in 2004. Ecomaster officials explain the growth "through the application of a long-term strategy that pursued focusing on sectors with high growth potential, such as the industrial ecology services and the waste collection and recycling services."
"At the same time, profitability was slightly lower than in 2004 due to a significant investment programme, yet long-term effects will be beneficial, not just commercially," Merza added.
The company's turnover in the first half stood at about 5 million dollars (3.9 million euros), an increase of 6% on the corresponding period of last year, while EBITDA amounted to 500,000 dollars (400,000 euros).
Ecomaster works mainly with foreign-held companies. The client portfolio includes more than 100 companies, three of which are part of the Rompetrol group (Rompetrol Rafinare, Rompetrol Petrochemicals and Rafinaria Vega Ploiesti).
As for Ecomaster's development plans, the management officials intend to become involved in biofuel production, alongside Rompetrol Rafinare and in decontaminating petroleum product-polluted soils. The Rompetrol Group, whose business exceeded 2 billion euros last year, has big plans for the biodiesel business.
