SAP Romania, Siveco Romania and Oracle Romania last year controlled 65% of the domestic market of business software applications, which last year expanded by 27.45% to $45.07 million (36.3 million euros), reveals a survey by IDC Romania market research firm. The three companies jointly derived revenues standing at $29.57 million (23.8 million euros).
SAP Romania, the domestic branch of the biggest manufacturer of business software solutions, continued to grow and held the top spot for the second year in a row, on the basis of revenues worth $12.76 million (10.3 million euros), which brought it a market share of 28.3%. The company has seen its revenues get bigger by almost 50% each year from 8.56 million dollars in 2004.
Data included in the above-quoted survey are pointing to an extremely tight fight for the second position on the market, with the gap between the company ranking second (Siveco) and the company filling the third position (Oracle) amounting to less than 600,000 dollars (482,000 euros).
Siveco Romania, one of the major domestic companies on the IT market, ranked second, as it did in 2004, among the business software suppliers, with revenues worth $8.7 million (6.96 million euros) and a 19.3% share of the market.
The domestic subsidiary of Oracle company, one of the world's biggest providers of business and data base software, came out third, with revenues worth $8.11 million (6.5 million euros) and 17.4% of the market. According to the IDC, Oracle last year managed to narrow the gap that separates it from the companies on top two positions.
Companies operating in the utilities sector last year spent the highest amount of money on software, namely 16.41 million dollars (13.2 million euros), with SAP, Siveco and Oracle deriving 60%, 53% and 50% respectively of their revenues from such clients alone, shows IDC survey. The
