The representatives of an international group, among the top 70 investors in the world, will arrive in Cluj next week to work out the details of an investment put at 300 million euros.
As the local authorities have said, about 80 hectares of the newly-established Tetarom III Park could go to a foreign investor, with which Cluj County Council has been negotiating the launch of the investment, widely regarded by many as the region's most important. Market sources say the international group to make the investment is Nokia. Nokia officials could not be contacted for comment.
"The investor, whose name we cannot reveal yet, but who is in the hi-fi equipment business, will visit Cluj next week to see whether it will stay or not. Meanwhile, we did not sit idly by, but began work on a plot of land in Floresti, that is we invested 3 billion RON to begin construction work on an access road. In the future, if the investor decides to settle for this place, we will invest 15m euros to provide easy access to the plot of land and utilities," explained Marius Nicoara, Cluj County Council chairman.
Nicoara emphasized that the talks carried out with the foreign investor had gone well, with Cluj being one of the favourites in terms of areas for investment. "This is a company twice the size of Emerson, which will buy 80 hectares of this plot of land." The Cluj County Council chairman says the company could create 15,000 jobs. "I estimate the new investment would reduce unemployment in the area to less than 1%, which can only be very good for the local community," Marius Nicoara told ZF Transilvania.
