Lock systems and hardware producer, Assa Abloy Romania, part of Swedish group Assa Abloy, posted turnover over 16 million euros, and profit amounting to some 140.000 euros in 2005, according to data published in the Official Gazette.
Early this August, the company increased its share capital by 9.5 million euros, through a cash contribution made by the company's sole shareholder, the Swedish company Assa Abloy. Following the increase, the company's share capital amounted to 13.6 million euros.
The company has been carrying out operations on domestic market since 1994. In 1998, the company purchased the hardware factory within Urbis Bucharest for 5.5 million dollars and, in August 2004, it merged with the producer of mechanic lock systems, Urbis Security.
Assa Abloy group is present in Romania through Urbis Security, specialised in production for local market, Urbis International, specialised in production that mainly goes to foreign markets and Assa Abloy Romania - the Swedish group's sales company.
The company manufactures door locks, hinges, lock systems for windows, lock systems for hotels, padlocks and other accessories. According to the company, approximately 85% of the lock systems in the hotel industry come from Assa Abloy.
Assa Abloy's customers are both companies operating in the commercial and industrial fields and individuals who can purchase the company's products through its own outlets, specialised DIY centres, as well as through distributors from the country. The company's clients are major hotels on the domestic market such as Marriott, Capsa, Ibis or Intercontinental, as well as domestic mobile telephony operators.
Assa Abloy Romania currently holds distribution centres in Timisoara, Brasov, Constanta and Cluj-Napoca, as well as showrooms in Bucharest, totalling about 1,000 employees.
