Imtech together with Peek & Delcan, Swarco together with UTI International and Siemens Germany along with Siemens Austria are competing in the final phase of the tender for the traffic management project drawn up by the Bucharest City Hall.
The project is worth 20.5 million euros, of which 3.5 million euros account for the municipality's contribution, while the rest of 17 million euros are secured through co-financing from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
A number of 18 companies and consortia signed up in the initial phase of the tender and only five got to the second phase, namely the 3 finalists and Electronic Trafic S.A. along with Marac Electronics and Sagem Communications along with Ineo Sytrans and Siemens Austria, which filed no bids for the final stage.
The deadline for bid submission was October 13th, and by the end of this month, following an analysis by the Evaluation Commission, the municipality is to announce the winner of the tender. The 3 consortia did not take part in the first stage of the tender, being considered as pre-qualified. Bids were assessed by the city hall together with WSP UK & TRAPEC S.A. and documentation on bid assessment was approved by the Project Implementation Unit and the EBRD.
The Bucharest City Hall is going to invest the 20 million euros to draw up a traffic management project related to the setting up of a network of 100 computer-controlled traffic lights with the help of which traffic can be monitored in real time.
The project is part of a municipality programme for traffic fluidisation, higher safety and reduction of polluting gas emissions by vehicles.
