The Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli will turn Romania into a logistic hub for its business in the region, once it completes the projects that are currently under development.
"The investments carried out so far in the area allow us to use Romania as a logistic centre to service the countries in the South-Eastern Europe, such as Russia, Ukraine and Bulgaria," stated Francesco Gori, CEO of Pirelli Tyre.
Pirelli's tyre division this year invested 170 million euros at Slatina, to build a new high-performance tyre production facility, near the metallic cord factory, inaugurated in partnership with German group Continental.
"Pirelli's strategy entails the expansion of production capacities in the areas with the highest growth. The factories built in Romania (the metallic cord factory and the high-end tyres factory) have been built so as to meet the growing demand coming from European markets," added Gori.
The company is currently investing in Romania, because here it found the resources and conditions favourable to development and because it has the potential to sustain its activity and plans for expansion in South-Eastern Europe.
Gori states, "the activity in Slatina is the source of our development not only in Romania. The car tyre factory and the metallic cord factory built in the same area, represent an international strong point," said Gori who also mentioned he kept analysing the feasibility of a platform of IT and commercial services.
The company intends to increase its exports on the Eastern European markets, which started expressing a growing demand for the tyres produced at Slatina, according to the data provided by Gori.
