The construction business last year brought profit for almost all the main players on this market, trade generated the highest business growth, while the most profitable companies were those in the services sector. These are largely the conclusions that can be reached when analysing the rankings of the biggest 50 players in each sector of economic activity. The respective rankings were put together by the Romanian Centre for Economic Modelling (Centrul Roman de Modelare Economica-CRME).
Turnover derived by the top players in construction business last year reached 1.81 billion euros, up 17.8 percent year-on-year. Of these, only one company ended 2005 with losses, with the general profitability rate of the players in the ranking standing at 6.8 percent.
According to the CRME survey, the ranking of the biggest construction companies is very dynamic, with very frequent hierarchy changes.
With a lower profitability rate than the construction sector, the trade sector last year boasted the fastest sales growth pace, just like it did in 2004.
Turnover generated by the biggest 50 companies on this market saw a cumulated increase of 44.3 percent, to 11.58 billion euros, while the profitability rate in the sector stood at 4.01 percent.
The services sector boasted the biggest profitability rate, that is a rate of 12.17 percent, almost double the profitability rate of the construction sector.
According to the same survey, this is because of the very high profitability rates of Orange (37.7 percent) and Vodafone (33.31 percent) mobile telephony companies.
These companies also posted high turnovers, and therefore firmly influenced the profitability rate of the sector. Turnover on this market last year reached 6.88 billion euros, up 20.4 percent.
