The employees at Dacia Renault Pitesti are in the fourth day of general strike, after the negotiations with the employer on Wednesday failed to reach a result. Over 6,000 employees are expected today to participate in a march where the National Unions Block promised to gather workers from other factories as well.
The Dacia administration offered a 130 RON salary growth starting in January and other 26 RON starting in September, but the union workers rejected the offer, demanding a 550 RON growth (1 euro = 3.7 RON). According to Realitatea TV, each day of general strike causes 10 million euro losses.
At the beginning of the week, the Dacia Communication Manager, Liviu Ion, claimed that the 550 RON salary growth can not be accepted, since it would represent - if added to all other requests - a 70% salary increase. This would not be possible, since Dacia still has to recover a 61 million euro loss.
