The general strike opened on March 24 at the Renault-owned car producer Automobile Dacia continues, union leaders announced on Wednesday, after consulting with the workers on the latest management offering, of 394 RON salary growth.
The consultations between union and workers begun on Tuesday night, with the second shift workers, and continued on Wednesday, with the first and third shift workers. "We ended the discussion at 13:00 and all departments agreed to continue the strike", said union vice leader Ion Iordache. "No one agreed with the salary growth the management suggested".
Both the unions and the board expect the court decision on the legal character of the strike.
The union demanded a 550 RON salary growth, while the management agreed to 394, after a previous offer of 250 RON per month.
The management sued the union, claiming that the general strike is not legal, since the union never went through all four negotiation chapters. The management also claims that only 40% of the workers are on strike, instead of the 76% claimed by the union.
