The board at the Renault-owned car producer Dacia Pitesti reached an agreement with the union workers, the general strike ending almost three weeks after its opening, Automobile Dacia officials announced. The work restarted at 13:00h, on Friday.
Dacia Communication manger Liviu Ion declared for Hotnews.ro that it is still too early to estimate when the collective employment contract will be signed, or when the losses caused by the strike will be recovered.
According to the new agreement, qualified workers will receive a general wage growth of 300 RON (1 Euro = 3.75 RON) starting on January 1, 2008, and another 60 RON, starting on September 1, 2008.
Maintenance personnel will receive a 15% growth.
All workers will receive a bonus equal to one individual salary, no less than 900 RON.
Union leader Nicolae Pavelescu said that 70% of the workers agreed to the last board proposition.
