The Drugs Distributors Association (ADMR) and the Drugs Importers and Distributors Association (ADIM) announced that the medicine repositories will be closed starting on Friday, as a protest against the Health Ministry policies.
"Because the national currency, RON, fell so much, we are forced to shut down the distribution of drugs on Friday. The Health Ministry still refuses to discuss with the distribution companies. We buy the drugs for 3.38 RON per euro, while the state pays us with 3.32 RON per euro", explained the distribution companies officials.
The distribution companies say that the authorities ignore their demands, which include respecting the law on price updates obligation.
For over 1,000 drugs, the prices paid by the Health Ministry do not even cover the distribution costs. The losses recorded in the drugs distribution business reached 20 million euro, companies saying that they can not support the losses anymore.
