On May 14, two Italian senators, Donatella Poretti and Marco Perduca submitted a letter to the Berlusconi government in which they demanded further clarifications regarding the presumed suicide of Romanian citizen Cristian Lupu in a police camp near Rome, HotNews.ro correspondent to Italy Miruna Cajvaneanu informs.
The letter was submitted to the Italian Parliament to be examined by Interior minister Roberto Maroni and by Defense minister Ignazio la Russa. Poretti and Perduca demand a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of death of the 28 years old Romanian.
Senator Donatella Poretti, member of the Radical Party talks in an interview with the HotNews.ro correspondent to Italy about the case of the Romanian. Poretti said that she received contradictory information concerning the circumstances in which the Romanian died and she wished to know whether his rights have been respected.
Moreover, she underlined that there was no such crisis in Italy caused by Romanians there. She said that the press was the one stirring up controversies. Plus, she added that politicians needed to be careful not to associate the population's need of safety with terror and anti-discriminatory behavior.
