Press agency Mediafax, a part of the Media Pro media group, was launched yesterday on the Czech media market, in the wake of a 1.5 million-euro investment. Mediafax's new unit is the only private news agency to provide current and up-to-date information across all fields of news.
"We are sharing with our Czech colleagues the experience gathered in Romania, where Mediafax has been the leading information provider since 1995. We apply the same practices in Prague as in Romania," said Cristian Dimitriu, general manager of Mediafax.
The Mediafax newsroom in Prague employs 120 people, including reporters, editors, press photographers and graphic designers, with experience in both printed and online press, and a network of correspondents in 24 cities throughout the Czech Republic.
Martin Svehl?k, 34, is the new editor-in-chief and Mihai Predescu, 45, the general manager.
"The Romanian agency will offer its expertise to the Czech agency, whilst Mediafax is the first Romanian agency to export its business model," says Calin Buzea, Business Director of Mediafax.
The agency provides news and photography streams on all the major events of the day. News features and photos are provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, on the websites www.mediafaxbiz.cz and www.mediafaxfoto.cz.
"Our team has been preparing for the launch for several months, which has entailed over 20,000 news items and thousands of photos. Over 80% of this information has not been published by another press agency. I am positive the Czech media market will change after the launch of the Mediafax agency," says Martin Svehl?k.
