German air travel company Lufthansa announced on Friday that its management reached an agreement with the Verdi labor union, this most probably leading to the ending of the strike launched on Monday, Reuters informs. Analysts estimated that each day on strike caused some 5 million euro losses to the company.
Some 5,00 members of the Verdi labor union went on strike and organized street protests, demanding a 9.8% salary growth, but the company first agreed to only 6.7%.
Lufthansa operates some 2,000 flights per day. Company representatives announced on Wednesday that they expect lower profits in 2008, due to the fuel price and the lowering demand.
The company shares grew 0.95% on Friday, to 14.91 euro, while the general stock exchange indicator, DAX, lost 0.64%.
