German company Deutsche Bahn, one of the main European railroad transport operators, is in negotiations for the takeover of Romanian company Romtrans. The transaction is estimated between 80 and 100 million euro, Financial Times Deutschland informed on Thursday, without quoting any sources.
The two companies are expected to reach a final agreement next week.
The takeover would bring a strategic edge to Deutsche Bahn, as the local growth potential is decreasing and the company is increasingly interested in the fast expanding Eastern markets.
Romtrans is a company privatized in 1994, entirely held by its 1,300 employees. It has 70 operation points near the main custom points and holds shares in 10 Romanian companies and seven foreign companies.
