The Superior Council of Magistrates (CSM) accused on Thursday Romania president Traian Basescu and Prime Minister Calin Popescu Tariceanu of "unacceptable attitude", claiming that the statements the two made on the uninominal vote subject come against the principle of Justice independence.
"The way the president firmly stated that the Government's ordinance includes illegal articles represents a serious prejudice brought to the Justice authorities and to the constitutional principle of state powers' separation", a CSM press release reads.
The reaction comes after the statements made on Wednesday evening by president Basescu in an intervention on the public TV station, TVR1. Basescu said that PM Tariceanu should ask for the Justice Minister's resignation in case the court decides that the ordinance doesn't include illegal articles.
