The nomination of the local leaders, in the person of the university professor Lucian Băluţ, was not assigned any eligible position on PSD list for the European Parliament.
During the yesterday meeting of the National Executive Committee of PSD, the social-democrats settled the list order for the European Parliament candidates.
Yesterday, the president of Constanţa county PSD organisation, Radu Mazăre and prime vice-president Nicuşor Constantinescu went to Bucharest, willing to support the candidacy of the university professor, former deputy Lucian Băluţ. Some sources inside the party confirmed that central management representatives promised Constanţa subsidiary the 10th position for Lucian Băluţ in the euro-parliamentarian list. According to the same sources, as usual, the two local leaders tried to push their luck and pleaded for position no eight in the list for Lucian Băluţ.
After a prolonged session of discussions within PSD Permanent National Office, which preceded the meeting of the National Executive Committee, the first 12 eligible positions on the Euro-parliamentarian list were as follows:
Adrian Severin, Rovana Plumb, Ioan Mircea Paşcu, Adriana Ţicău, Daciana Sârbu, Corina Creţu, Victor Boştinaru, PC [Conservative Party] representative (a choice to be made between Daniela Popa and Codruţ Şereş), Cătălin Ivan, candidate coming from Bucharest Ilfov organisation, Viorica Dăncilă and Minodora Cliveti. To the surprise of many people, the present Euro-parliamentarian Gabriela Creţu was not on the list and the place reserved to CNSLR Frăţia had been taken.
Not long ago, during a training session for Euro-election preparation, the prefect of Constanţa county, Tit Liviu Brăiloiu, informed the local mayors that they would have a Euro-parliamentarian candidate, from PSD, on position no 10. It seems that the anticipated announce was not
