If the debts are not paid, more than three hundred patients will have to provide for their own food during being hospitalised.
So far hospitalised patient had to buy medicines or sanitary consumables, and starting from 1st of July they might do the same when it comes to food. And this because of debt of billion old lei that hospitals should pay to providers.
In this state we find Constanţa Hospital for Infectious Diseases, Eforie Nord Hospital for Recovery, Physical Medicine and Balneology and the external sections of the County Emergency Clinical Hospital. The representatives of Arimex Comexim 2000 Ltd Bucharest, the company in charge with catering these hospitals, already warned the County Hospital, as it has the most consistent debt and hasn't paid the catering company since February.
"We took this decision because we can hardly manage. We have low accretions and prices, still, the fact that we don't cash in affects our activity. We show understanding to them, as they motivated that the hospital received money only for salaries, but we are on the verge of a financial block", declared Petre Preda, the manager of Arimex Comexim 2000 Ltd Bucharest. According to him, SCJU [County Emergency Clinical Hospital] owes about 300,000 lei, the Hospital for Infectious Diseases about 150,000 lei and Eforie Nord Recovery Hospital, 10,000 lei. "Knowing the fact that you encountered financial problems, having in view our constant collaboration with your hospital (since 2001 with no interruption), we have insisted on paying the invoices, but now we find ourselves on the verge of a financial block. Producers warned us to pay all the debts and advised us that they would stop the deliveries starting from July 2009. Consequently, should you not be able to pay the debts, we will find ourselves in a state of impossibility of making any deliveries to you.
