Sotiris Marinidis (photo), former managing director of P&G Ukraine was appointed to head the group’s operations in Romania, succeeding Jose Antonio Medran.
Jose Antonio will take up the position as vice president of Oral Care&Personal Health Care in Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa.
Medran joined P&G in 1986 and worked as assistant brand manager for P&G’s subsidiary in Neuilly (France). Since January 1991 he was brand manager in Istanbul (Turkey). Starting 2000 he headed the company’s marketing operations, personnel planning as well as strategic planning for CMEA, reporting directly to the chairman of CEMEA in Geneva (Switzerland).
Since April 2005, he was vice president and managing director for markets in the region (Romania, Serbia, Montenegro, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Albania, Moldova and Macedonia).
Under Medran’s leadership, P&G’s subsidiary in Romania registered an ongoing diversification and expansion. The year 2005 was marked by the global merger between P&G and Gillette, achieved in multiple stages. The merger in Romania was carried in 2006, on July 1, Procter&Gamble sealing the merger agreement with Gillette Romania SRL whereby P&G took over Gillette’s net assets.
Under Medran, P&G initiated in February 2009, the first Greenfield investment in Romania, by starting the construction works at a new facility for the production of shampoo and hair care products in Urlati, Prahova.
