PepsiAmericas Romania, the second largest soft-drink maker opened in Dragomiresti, Ilfov, the largest bottling facility in its European network, investing around 85 million dollars in a first phase.
“The new bottling plant is a proof of our confidence in Romanian economy and Romanian employees. Approximately 300 persons took part in the year-long development of the project”, said Mike Holmes, country manager PepsiAmericas Romania.
This is the first investment stage, the amount being directed to a cutting-edge aseptic PET bottling that currently outputs up to 15,000 packages annually.
The second investment phase, that will require 65 million dollars, will generate an increase in production capacity to 65,000 packages annually.
According to Mike Holmes, the plant in Dragomiresti will raise the company’s production capacity in Romania by 35%.
Pepsi Americas reported last year sales of 744,806,819 lei (202.3 mil. euro), up 12.5% from 651,066,417 lei (195.5 mil. euro) in 2007.
The soft-drink maker’s 2008 net profit in Romania went up 17.5% YoY, up to 136,500,284 lei (37 million euros).
