The number of Romanians applying for a working permit in Great Britain is decreasing, a recent Immigration report in the UK for April - June 2009 reveals. The only sector which abounds of Romanians is agriculture. Compared to 2007, the number of Romanians receiving working permits decreased to half.
A2 citizens, Romanians and Bulgarians are the only EU citizens who need to obtain a working permit for Great Britain, according to the 2006 Regulation Accession law. According to the recent immigration report, set up for the second quarter of this year, the number of working permits, in the accession working card regime dropped by 43% for A2 citizens, totaling 580 requests.
Of all requests, only 425 were approved, a 36% decrease compared to last year when 665 permits were authorized of a total of 1025 requests. However, the only sector which abounds of Romanians is agriculture: authorities issued more temporary working permits for the second quarter of 2009 than any other quarter since 2007. Thus, for April June 2009, there were 4,100 permits released compared to 2,625 permits in the same period, last year.
