The National Liberal Party (PNL) submitted a motion against the Democratic Liberal Government led by Emil Boc on Tuesday. PNL representative Calin Popescu Tariceanu said the motion was signed by members of the PNL and Hungarian Democrats (UDMR) parliamentary groups.
The motion was signed by 124 MPs from PNL and UDMR, but also by some of the Social Democratic Party(PSD), who signed it "personally".
According to the Constitution, such a motion may be initiated by at least one fourth of the total number of MPs. The Government is dismissed should the motion be voted by a majority of MPs.
PSD had announced on Monday that it would support a motion that would remove the current Government from office. But party officials told HotNews.ro on Tuesday that despite the announcement PSD MPs would refuse to vote the motion as it would be a risky vote which would harm the party image and open the way for early elections.
