Football is not the only concern of the players from Steaua. Another sport, but without the ball, has become increasingly practiced by the Red-Blue: poker. Moreover, recently it has become more important than the rest.
They do not play large amounts
And this at least relating to some players, including Golanski, Szekely, Kapetanos, Cezar Lungu, Tudose, Ninu and Baciu. In some occasions, they chose to give up hours of rest in order to display their skills at poker, a way of "entertainment" reached high in Ghencea. It is true; they do not throw large amounts at stake.
They skip the noon sleep
Most times, when they are in the training camp or in semi-training camp at the stadium, the poker table comes right after the lunch. They skip the rest and meet in one of the rooms of the little hotel situated in the 2nd tribune. They finish the game around 5:00 p.m, when it is scheduled the second training of the day.
In Ireland they have played all night
Furthermore, poker is played even in some evenings after the matches played away. The same happened, for example, after the match in Ireland, with Saint Patrick's (2-1), after Steaua was able to get the qualification in the groups of Europe League. The leadership and Bergodi had decided that the team shall sleep overnight in Dublin just for the football players to rest before the derby with Dinamo, which was to be played in just 3 days. Some of them went to bed but only towards morning, after several "hands" at poker!
