Romania has attracted the largest investments in the region from IT multinationals, becoming a major base for these companies' European operations, but the Romanian market has yet to reach its full potential, says Sorin Mindrutescu, CEO of Oracle Romania, local subsidiary of world's largest business software manufacturer. "Is it by chance that Romania has been chosen by all the big multinational corporations as a major base for their operations in Europe? Oracle has 1,400 employees, HP - 2,200, IBM - a few thousand, and Microsoft has an important presence," said the head of Oracle Romania. The four American multinationals have almost 5,000 employees in Romania, and were drawn to the Romanian market by the attractive salary level, the IT&C infrastructure and personnel qualification. "Why has one not capitalised on these success stories, which actually exist and are not something that may occur, but that have already occurred? We now have thousands of employees who bring added value, who have an impact in the education system, and have high qualifications," said Mindrutescu at the Oracle Day 2009 conference held yesterday in Bucharest.
