Thursday, Ovidius University awarded Doctor Honoris Causa title to University Professor Doctor Doina Banciu, head manager of the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics Bucharest.
"It is a great pleasure for us to render homage to a great personality, to whom the Senate of Ovidius University have decided to award the great distinction of Doctor Honoris Causa", declared the Rector of Ovidius University of Constanţa, University Professor Doctor Victor Ciupină.
Dean of Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, professor doctor Wladimir Georges Boskoff, was the one who presented an impressive list of all her professional successes.
University Professor Doctor Doina Banciu started her activity in 1972, as system analyst, at the National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics Bucharest, then she worked as a scientific researcher, as Chief Project Engineer for the Informatics System of National Library (the first system of the king from Romania), as head of Agency for Research - Designing - Application of informatics systems in university libraries, and, from 1999, she works both as associated professor and scientific secretary at Faculty of Public Administration SNSPA. Doina Banciu has also an impressive activity in university research at Bucharest University, as well as in professional partnerships and other organisms from Romania and from abroad. She has coordinated and wrote over 30 books and textbooks, she is contributor at seven prestigious magazines from all over the world, won 14 national and international prizes and she is member of many committees.
