On Friday, the employers' unions in the food industry asked the agriculture minister to postpone the application of the law regarding the Code of Good Practice, in order to amend it, after discussions with the supermarkets, noticing unclarities, in particular as regards the payment deadlines, said Sorin Minea. "That final part of the law, the one on the payment deadlines, can create a very dangerous market distortion. The law was made very quickly and without the participation of the supermarkets and there are different interpretations on the acquisition cost. If we build a bushy law, it is difficult to apply it, my interest is for the law to be brief, clear, easy to apply and to also bring an advantage to the final consumer who must buy", said the President of Romalimenta, Sorin Minea, cited by NewsIn .
According to him, the employers' unions asked the Minister of Agriculture to have a series of meetings with the supermarket representatives and to elaborate a variant of the law in line with the demands of both sides. "In the supermarkets' law (the Law on the Code of Good Practice with food products - ed.n.) there are a few points that make it very difficult to apply. If it comes into force within a few days, it will either lead to price growths or to the impossibility to apply it. I asked the minister to invite the supermarkets to a discussion and to suspend its application for a period of one month or two, until the end of the negotiations. Until then, everybody will sign and the law will acquire a lucrative character," Minea added.
