In 2003 Gazeta arranged the meeting from a Romanian young man with disabilities adopted by an English family and Adrian Mutu
There are people in this world who have the power to shock. Actually, they have the power to be better than we all making only one gesture. Ken and Doreen, two English who were almost 50 years old at that time, visited Romania. It was 1992. In an orphanage they find Cornel. A child of a few months who had two scrags, but also a serious problem at the right leg. They decide to adopt him, which means to save him from death.
Mutu: "Cornel’s story shocked me!"
In a few days, Gazeta arranged the meeting between Cornel and Mutu. In the luxurious center for recovery situated near Stamford Bridge. It was at the end of 2003. Mutu went out from the swimming pool and saw Cornel. He saluted his parents, then he talked with the boy three quarters of an hour.
The player from Chelsea had hidden perfectly the emotion during the meeting. i.e. when the kid made him a demonstration of how he could write or how he could run and hit the ball with the right leg amputated. "Adrian, I like you very much!", said Cornel, "but I want to become a timpanist when I grow up".
Mutu, for Gazeta Sporturilor at that time: "I have a boy, too. I am very shocked by Cornel’s story, but I am glad that there are still people like his adoptive parents. I told them that I am proud of my Romanian, of this extraordinary boy who will make his mark for sure".
"Children like him were treated like animals"
January 2010. The international press writes again about the terrible story of the kid adopted 18 years ago. Now he was accepted at the famous university Oxford, where he will study sociology and psychology. "The terrible story of the Romanian kid", wrote the English tabloid Mirror, and Daily Mail titrated: "In t
