The number of Ford suppliers interested in making investments in the Craiova area has risen from 11 companies last summer to 28 at present, with the American manufacturer to start production of its B-segment model, which will be assembled exclusively in the Craiova plant in the "near future".
"There are currently 28 companies interested in a facility in Craiova Industrial Park," said Marin Nicoli, manager of the Park, who did not wish to provide information as to what area the investors were targeting.
Cumulated, the overall value of investments of component manufacturers in the Craiova area would amount to over 300 million euros and generate over 20,000 new jobs, according to ZF estimates.
The industrial park currently covers around 10 hectares, whereas demand would target an at least ten times larger area.
The 28 companies interested in investing in the Craiova area include Belgium's AFMECH, a supplier of industrial equipment, as well as GomaElektro, an industrial lighting company, which has previously worked in Romania with Coca-Cola in Ploiesti, and with Bentley and Honda in the UK.
