Bergenbier SA, the third largest local beer producer, which is controlled by private equity fund CVC Capital Partners, has two new managers running the sales and marketing departments, Florin Stoleriu and Tiberiu Mercurian, brought from paint maker Fabryo and consumer goods producer Henkel.
Florin Stoleriu, former retail sales manager of Fabryo, took over as sales manager of the local branch of the StarBev group last month. Fabryo was the only employer for Stoleriu other than the Bergenbier producer, previously called InBev Romania - where he worked until the end of 2008.
"Florin Stoleriu knows the beer market, the brands in the portfolio and the competition very well. I and Florin were part of the same team for ten years," said Mihai Ghyka, general manager of Bergenbier SA, a company with 170 million euros in turnover, explaining his decision. Ghyka, who was recruited by CVC at the end of 2009 to run the Bergenbier producer again after its takeover from InBev giant, has previously said he intends to bring some of the old managers back if they want to.
On the other hand, Tiberiu Mercurian will take over as marketing manager of Bergenbier in April, after an almost eight-year stint with Henkel. His last position there was marketing manager of the detergent division.
