Automobile Dacia has started exports for the newest model of its range, the Duster SUV, with tens of units shipped daily through local carrier Hoedlmayer Lazar, part of the group of Romanian entrepreneur Lazar who owns one of the biggest local carriers, International Lazar. Hoedlmayer Lazar is a joint venture established in partnership with Austria's logistics services operator Hoedlmayer.
Dacia officials say that 150 to 300 units are being shipping abroad every day, with sales to foreign markets accounting for 85% of the brand's sales.
"This is the pre-launch period and we are now stocking dealers in France, Germany and Italy. We have worked really hard on this launch and we've had problems, too. We reached the Cote d"Ivoire when everything was blocked by snowfall, but the crisis cell managed to send the lorries," said Ion Lazar. One can see more than 10 Lazar lorries carrying 8 Dusters on the average each on the Pitesti-Ramnicu Valcea - Sibiu - Arad route on weekends, too.
Other carriers, besides Hoedlmayer Lazar, working with Dacia on the shipments of Duster include Gefco (railway carrier), the Germans at Willi Betz and Lagermax and French STVA, which are road carriers. Daily Duster production has reached 250 units; about 20% of the 1,350 Dacia vehicles assembled every day in Mioveni.
