Dumitru Tudor, one of the biggest local investors on the Stock Exchange, sold 2.7% in drug manufacturer Biofarm Bucuresti (BIO) to SIF Oltenia, collecting 1.67 million euros.
"I sold out of a need to make another investment. I preferred to a transaction for the entire stake in order not to affect the share price. My decision has nothing to do with the company's situation. I continue to have interests in Biofarm, and the results reported are good and are following an upward trend, but, like any investor with several options available, I am seeking to take advantage of these opportunities," Dumitru Tudor told ZF, without giving any specifics.
He became known on the Stock Exchange at the beginning of 2006, when he was reported with an around 11% stake in Biofarm. He later sold stakes in Biofarm, diversifying his Stock Exchange placements by investing in the five SIFs (Financial Investment Companies).
"My specialisation (as a chemical engineer) prompted me to invest in Biofarm, and I am happy with the profits this stock has brought me so far," he adds.
With a portfolio of over 10 million euros on the Stock Exchange, Dumitru Tudor says that over the past year he was even able to make higher profits than the market average. The BET index (of the 10 most liquid shares on the Stock Exchange) rose by 150% during this time, but Biofarm shares gained 200% over the same period, while SIF Oltenia and SIF Moldova, where he holds almost 1%, climbed by over 240%.
