Charcuterie producer Aldis Calarasi, with over 90 million euros in turnover, controlled by the Naghi family, exited the top five of salami producers and lost three places in the ranking of sausage and frankfurter producers in terms of volume of sales, according to data of market research company MEMRB.
The two markets generate over 60% of charcuterie sales in Romania, an industry whose sales range between 800 and one billion euros. The exit from the top five on the salami market and the fall from the second position in 2008 to the sixth position on the sausages and frankfurter market at the end of last year, also led to a significant decline in the company's market share on these segments in modern retail sales.
According to ZF calculations, Aldis's market share on the frankfurter and sausage segment is around 5%, and the company could hold an even lower share of the salami market. Therefore, cumulated sales of the charcuterie producer on these markets range between 15 and 25 million euros, according to ZF estimates. Aldis Calarasi representatives did not comment on the progression of the company's market shares by the time this issue was ready for print.
