The four Bucharest hotels - Rin Grand Hotel, Traian, Rin Otopeni, and Confort Otopeni, controlled by the Negoita brothers, recorded 3.2 million euros in turnover in the first three months of this year, 20% less than in the similar period of last year.
The turnover of the four hotels, which together have 2,100 rooms, is just 500,000 euros higher than that recorded in 2009 by Rin Grand hotel alone.
"For us things are worse than last year, it is not only our turnover that has fallen, but our profit has also been severely affected," said Ionut Negoita, who, together with his brother Robert Negoita, a deputy with the Social Democratic Party holds the Confort group, with tourism, real estate, and media operations.
Rin Grand Hotel is, its owners say, the biggest hotel in Europe, with an area of 115,000 built square metres, larger for instance than that of the biggest malls in Bucharest. The hotel is 15-storey tall and has a 1,000-space car park.
