Israeli group New Kopel, which is involved in operational leasing, rent-a-car, and sales of new and second-hand cars, has acquired a Bucharest auto dealer this week for 5.7 million euros, according to information published on the Tel Aviv stock exchange.
The company's report specifies that the dealership taken over covers 4,150 square metres, and involves a showroom, a service centre and a car parts storage facility. Company representatives did not wish to specify the name of the dealer, which sells two European car brands, because the transaction has yet to be completed. The dealer could either be a part of the VW-Audi distribution network or of the Renault-Dacia network, according to ZF estimates.
"Yes, we have sealed a new transaction, worth almost 6 million euros, but there are as yet non-finalised aspects, so we cannot confirm the public information on the stock exchange," said Dudy Perry, general manager of Sixt New Kopel Romania. He added the new dealer could sell up to 100 cars every month, an ambitious target considering that the around 400 dealers in Romania sold around 18,000 cars in the first quarter of the year. The leading company in the New Kopel group is Sixt New Kopel, with 14 million euros in turnover last year.
