Ion Martiş, the father of the former referee Marius Martiş, bagă mîna în foc pentru fiul său.
"My son would have never made the things he is accused of! I raised him, I know him very well, and being his father I have the trust that he is innocent! We have to be patient and wait the justice to make its duty. And I am sure that the justice will make its duty in the right way, I know this from my experience of 24 years as qualified accountant. If you are correct and clean, as my son is, and the evidence show this, it is impossible to accuse you unjustly!", declared Ion Martiş.
An influent father
The father said that he didn’t have the strength to go yesterday at Piteşti, to see his son with the hand-cuff: "The entire family is sad. I know he will suffer in the prison, but he has to be patient. He is prepared to endure, he has no alternative! He has at home a girl of 8 months and a boy of 5 years". Ion Martiş is known in Vrancea as an influent business man, with many political connections, a closed friend with "the baron" PSD, Marian Oprişan.
Condemned for robbery
Marius Martiş, who is Nicu Gheară’s , had problems with the law when he was young, too. In 1992, when he was 18 years old, with other three friends, he dispossessed the Turkish citizen Mustafa Necat of 2.695 dollars. In '95 he was condemned for robbery for two years and two months of prison with reprieve and a supervision of 4 years and two months. In spite of his identification report, Martiş was kept in the team with the best referees until last year, when "the case Penescu" broke out, benefiting by protection on the line Nicu Gheară - Mircea Sandu - CCA.
"After 20 years, I can say that the Federation had never made an arrangement with the referees, at least, not with my agreement. Maybe without my consent they made some arrangements"
