Înaintea votului din Parlamentul European (PE) referitor la rezoluția de interzicere a cianurilor în minierit (detalii aici), Elena Băsescu muncește din greu pentru a-și convinge colegii europeni să voteze împotriva formei actuale a rezoluției anti-cianură. Astfel, ea le distribuie pe e-mail mesaje precum cel de mai jos.
Pentru a fi sigură că mesajele sunt luate în considerare, Eba atașează mailurilor și documente provenind de la Asociația Europeană a Minelor (EuroMines) ori de la producătorii europeni de cianură. Pentru a fi clar interesele cui le reprezintă Eba în PE.

*- emphasize that such a general prohibition could only be adopted after
having undertaken a thorough study not only on the implementation of the
existing European legislation and the need for new legislation regarding
