Electrica, a euro-billionaire company in terms of turnover generated by distribution and supply of power, is the only state-run company heading towards the completion of a wind farm, whereas investments worth up to one billion euros in "wind mills" are expected this year.
The rest of the state-owned companies such as Hidroelectrica and Romgaz have voiced no concrete intentions so far to invest in this field that proved attractive to the world's energy giants and to local companies.
"We have not lost interest in this field, but have other priorities at the moment," says Mihai David, general manager of Hidroelectrica.
Romgaz, too, says it intends to enter the electrical power producers market but deems it too early to talk about plans. Meanwhile, Petrom, for instance, is completing a 100 million-euro wind farm and a 500m-euro electrical power station running on gas which will be bigger than a Cernavoda reactor. The projects will be completed in 2011.
