Spanish-held Inditex has struck a deal with the Adamescu family for a two-floor Bershka store set to open in late summer in Unirea Shopping Center.
The Spanish group will be followed by German retailer New Yorker, which is expected with a new store on the ground floor of Unirea in September.
What does it take to occupy a 2,500 square-metre area in the most visited shopping centre in Romania?
An initial investment of over 3 million euros and revamping a quarter of the Unirea facade.
In one year alone, the Adamescu family, owner of Unirea Shopping Center, significantly altered the image of the shopping centre located at the heart of Bucharest, by attracting Zara, Mango, and Douglas as tenants - internationally established brands preferred by Romanians, which up until then had their sights set only the new mall openings. This strategy has continued, with the latest partnerships being signed with Bershka and New Yorker. "The new entries will result in an even larger number of visitors, we will consolidate our position as leader of the shopping centre market," Carmen Adamescu, Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Unirea Shopping Center, told ZF.
