Constanţa woke up yesterday morning in tears. One of the heroes of the town from the seaside died
On Friday night to Saturday, around 11:00 p.m., at only 44 years old, Zoran Kurtes died. The first coach who brought a Romanian men handball team in the final rights of Champions League, Zoran Kurtes, went to the sky in a moment when he prepared the path to a new performance. He couldn’t do this anymore because death watched him foully and it hit truculently.
An unexpected death
After he feasted on Thursday night the attainment of the second champion title with HCM, Kurtes enjoyed on Friday of a day off duty, before starting the training camp for the Romanian Cup.
In the evening, the coach chose to watch in his hotel room, the basket ball match between Partizan Belgrad and Olympiakos Pireu, from the Final Four of Euro league. He was not alone, he was with his good friend Pedja Klasovici, former basket ball player at Steaua.
"We watched the match together; I stayed on a chair and he lay down on the bed. In a moment of silence, I have heard some kind of snore and I asked him if he fell asleep. I didn’t receive any answer and I realize that he wasn’t breathing. On that moment, I realized that was something serious and I called the team masseur, who was in the next room", told Klasovici, strong strucked by the tragedy.
The masseur Dumitru Forţu lent him the first assistance, while the old Alexandr Adzici, lodged at the same hotel, called the ambulance. Arrived after only six minutes, the doctors started to resuscitate him, but Kurtes didn’t present any sign of life. "I was called by the president of the club who told me that Zoran hadn’t felt too good. I didn’t know how serious was, but when I arrived at the hotel they were resuscitating him.
