Automobile Dacia's exports rose by almost 45% during the January-April interval to 103,000 vehicles totally worth 820m euros, according to domestic car market statistics, accounting for almost 90% in the overall production of Mioveni plant, the highest level in Dacia's history. In the first quarter, Dacia's exports, worth around 620m euros, accounted for almost 8% in Romania's exports, a value similar with last year's. At the same time, domestic market sales dropped by almost 20% in April and by 24% in the first four months, against the similar periods of 2009, to over 4,200 and 10,400 vehicles, respectively. In April, the domestic carmaker's exports rose by over 12%, to almost 26,000 vehicles, in the context where in the same month the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association reported 14% slide in the Romanian brand's registrations. "April was marked by a slight decline in Dacia sales, but we must mention the comparison base was extremely high, as April 2009 was the first month when the effects of Germany's old car scrappage scheme were felt," said Fabrice Cambolive, commercial manager of Automobile Dacia.
