Vodafone, the second largest telecom operator, and Facebook are giving customers free access to the new website 0.facebook.com, that enables users to stay in touch with family and friends through the social site through any mobile browser, while having free data traffic.
The 0.facebook.com has been optimized to maximize the speed, being a faster and user-friendly version of m.facebook.com.
The new website doesn’t include graphics or images, and the pages have been designed for a rapid navigation in Vodafone Romania network. In order to view a photo, the user must click on the link to the image, and will be alerted he would leave the 0.facebook.com page.
The operator has expanded its mobile internet service range with prepaid services, by launching the Vodafone Internet card, available for prices starting €5 credit.
“The agreement with Facebook allows us to meet the communication needs of Romanian social sites users. We’ve developed this option to enable customers receive real time news from social networking sites, without caring about navigation costs”, said Karsten Wildberger, COO consumer business unit Vodafone Romania.
Vodafone recorded revenues of €925.1 million in the fiscal year 2009-2010 ending March 31, down 21% from €1.166 billion a year earlier, and 13% below 2006/2007 level.
