Oana Bornaz, 40, resigned in January as CEO of Gecad Technologies (Axigen), a software producer held by businessman Radu Georgescu, whose shareholders include an investment fund held by American-based Cisco, the world's no. 1 in networking equipment.
The company confirmed Oana Bornaz's departure, without specifying why she left, but said she was replaced by the manager of another company in the group, Gabriela Mechea. "We cannot provide any details on how long she will hold this position. The company's managing board will decide at the right time if and when a new CEO is needed," company officials told ZF.
Gecad Technologies is the company that in 2003 sold antivirus technology to Microsoft, and later used part of the team that worked on the security software to develop electronic messaging solution Axigen.
In 2007 the company was put at 17 million euros after a consortium of seven investors bought 11.7% in Gecad Technologies in a 2 million-euro transaction. The funds that bought into the company are Global Finance and 3TS-Cisco Growth Fund III, while the identity of other private investors from the United States and Western Europe has not been revealed. The shareholder structure has not been changed, according to Trade Registry data.
