Businesswoman Camelia Şucu, is diversifying its businesses just as the crisis is in full swing. Her latest acquisition is the "Wholesale market" (Piaţa de Gros) of Bucharest, which it intends to modernize after she recently acquired it from the Ministry of Finance.
"Piaţa de Gros" Bucharest - "The Wholesale market"- (incorporated in 1993, through the contribution of several local banks) is the first Romanian company specializing in the collection, storage and sale of vegetables, fruit and flowers produced domestically. "Piaţa de Gros" was set up with the help of the German government, as part of a project financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The company which managed the market recently entered foreclosure, as it was unable to reimburse the loan it has taken from the Romanian state at its incorporation.
In order to recover some of the debt, the Ministry of Public Finance recently sold the assets of the market to Camelia Şucu, by way of an auction, for 3.8 million Euros.
"I want to turn this market into what could be truly called a European-standard wholesale market", says Camelia Şucu.
After acquiring its assets from the state one month ago, Mrs. Camelia Şucu recently set up a limited liability company called "Piaţa de Gros Administrare" SRL, in which she owns 5%. The remaining 95% is owned by Mrs. Katy Paşculea, who serves as administrator of the market.
