Orange, Romania's biggest mobile telephony operator in terms of revenues and the number of clients, is owned by France Telecom group. A graduate of a higher school of business and with an MBA from ESCP Europe, Pech has worked with France Telecom since 1994. During 1994-1998 period he worked as an auditor and consultant, being involved in changing the company's business processes. Pech will have a difficult mandate, of helping Orange keep in leading position in the ranking of domestic telecom operators, in the context of tough competition doubled by declining consumption amid recession and governmental austerity measures. Orange, the biggest mobile telephony operator in Romania, saw its revenues go down by 10.2% in the first quarter from a year ago, to 237m euros, while the number of the company's clients rose by 7% to 10.809 million during this period.
