Continental in 2009 reached 337m-euro turnover, up 10% year-on-year, while net income increased five times to 49m euros in the wake of steps taken to boost efficiency and investments in the plant. Thus, in 2009 each of the 1,400 employees at the plant that produces over 14 million tyres annually brought the company profit worth almost 35,000 euros, five times more than in 2008. "This profit per employee was good. By comparison, in outsourcing, net profit per employee stands below 15,000 euros," stated Mirela Marinescu, head of recruitment & selection with APT group, a top five player in recruitment, with turnover worth above 12m euros in 2009. In parallel with boosting productivity, Continental also raised the net average wage by around 4% in RON, to 1,504 RON (358 euros).
