Exports continued to go up fast in April, increasing by 33.3% compared with the same time of last year, fuelled by international demand, especially on the automotive segment (Dacia).
"Exports obviously were helped by international demand and automotive exports of the last twelve months had a significant impact, but at the same the faster deterioration of domestic demand kept import dynamics behind export dynamics," commented Catalina Molnar, senior economist of RBS Bank.
After having gone up by an over 20% year-on-year pace in the first two months of 2010, March saw exports growth down to 16.7%, with April ending in a 33.3% increase. Molnar explained such 'shocks' were induced by the volatile trends in March and April 2009.
