Angella Alexander, one of the first execs of Ford Motor Company involved in the project of the Craiova plant, left the London offices for the one of Craiova. The project had unofficially started two years before that. "I've been involved in the Ford Romania project for almost four years, since 2006. We cannot say this is much as it's an extensive project (...)," said Alexander. Overall, Ford is set to invest over 100m euros in training programmes over the following years, after personnel training expenses last year hit 12m euros. Of the total sum, 57m euros are state aid. Ford's plans for the Craiova plant include doubling the number of employees, from 3,600 at present, to more than 7,000 people, once the plant reaches a capacity of 300,000 cars and 300,000 engines per year, after 2012. Alexander said that the number of employees would not change this year. "We expect to recruit further starting the first half of next year (...)", she said.
