Ziarul Financiar has rewarded 15 law firms for their activity in 2009 at the first Lawyers' Gala, organised in partnership with Raiffeisen Bank. The awards were given for the top three firms in terms of revenues, for providing assistance in one of the top transactions in ten sectors of the economy, and two special awards - for the most promising start-up, and for the Romanian entrepreneur's lawyer.
The law firm that received the most awards for its activity in 2009 was Tuca Zbarcea & Asociatii, with three awards, for the biggest law firm in terms of revenues, for the most important litigation - assisting the Romanian state in its litigation against duty free operator EDF, and for the biggest transaction in the energy sector, when it assisted CEZ in the acquisition of minority stakes in CEZ Distributie (CEZ Transmission) and CEZ Vanzare (CEZ Sale), a 230 million-euro deal. The other winners include NNDKP, Musat & Asociatii, Popoviciu Nitu & Asociatii, Schoenherr, RTPR Allen & Overy, Reff & Asociatii, Voicu & Filipescu, Badea Clifford Chance, and Danila, Petre si Asociatii.
