Taxi operator Fly Taxi, which up until the beginning of this year was the only company granted access to the terminals of the Otopeni Airport in Bucharest, has filed for insolvency, with the petition to be brought before the Bucharest Court of Law at the end of the month.
The company, controlled by businessman Fernando Enciu, was brought before justice by companies that requested its insolvency last year, but the petitions were dismissed by the court. The company was also involved in labour litigations with some of its employees. Company representatives could not be contacted by the time this issue was ready for print. Fly Taxi had, according to the latest available data, a 2.3 million-euro turnover and 126 employees in 2008.
Most Bucharest taxi companies charge an average 1.39 RON/km, whilst the maximum fee amounts to 3.9 RON/km. Fly Taxi charges 3.5 RON/km, according to the latest available data.
