The National Bank of Romania (NBR), the Romanian Banking Association (ARB) and the Romanian Banking Institute (IBR) sent their nominations for a seat in the Tax Council to Parliament as early as June 21, and the new members will be appointed by Parliament next week.
Those nominated to the Tax Council are Razvan Stanca from the NBR, Silviu Seitan from the IBR, Gabriel Mateescu from ARB, Lucian Liviu Albu from the Romanian Academy and Tatiana Mosteanu from the Academy of Economic Studies.
According to the Fiscal Responsibility Law signed as part of the agreement with the IMF and assumed by the Government, a Tax Council shall be created with five members "experienced in macroeconomic and budgetary policies, to provide support to the Government and Parliament in the drafting and conducting of fiscal and budget policies in order to ensure quality of macroeconomic forecasts, which are the foundation of the budgetary projections and of the medium and long-term fiscal and budgetary policies," reveals the letter sent by Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu to general secretary of the Chamber of Deputies Gheorghe Barbu.
